BUILDING CHARLOTTE
We spent a lot of time learning, searching, browsing, demoing, rebuilding, brainstorming, and dreaming to build our little home on wheels. It seemed like the logical next step to write and detail all we’ve done and learned in this process!
There’s a lot of detail we could talk about in building a bus, so we’ve included pages with deep dives on each step of the process, as well as an overview rundown of our build if you’re just generally interested in what this venture entailed. Doing a school bus conversion is an interesting mix of applying existing building knowledge, learning entirely new skill sets, and problem solving your way around this funny little tiny space.

We hope that these resources can be helpful if you’re considering building your own skoolie! At first, this whole bus conversion seemed like it would be an overwhelming endeavor. But we took our time with it (two whole years!) and did a lot of Googling and Instagram-crawling to learn what we needed to do, how to do it, and to learn from the mistakes of others. We’re SO grateful to the skoolie communities we learned from and we’re excited to be on the other side (mostly…) of our build and to help others!
